Okay, I am planning to get 1 or 2 SVT-40, and there seem a few dealers are carrying them.

I know that these rifles are russian refurbed, but what I don't know are:

- bore condition in general.
- are they force-matched (with electro-pencilling)?
- any import marking?

I don't know if all the SVTs from the dealers are from the same batch. If not, which dealers have 'better' ones?

I just bought one from Tradex. It is a Russian refurb all matching except the magazine which is electo-penciled. No import marks. Bore looks good, the rest of the gun is in excellent condition. Buy them quick, they won't last long.

Very minor arsenal wood repairs and minor dents, very good bluing, the bolts were plum blued in the re-arsenal process and is a bit streaky. Internals like new. Especially after seeing what Kasat did with his I love mine!

Only problem is the fluting in the chamber - does evil things to the brass after a while.
 
gas systems are dodgy. mine only works on 1.7 setting. also a lot of electro-pencil work on most major parts. the shellac was so bad i had to refinish mine. i did get mine almost 3 years ago though.
