SVT able to handle 308 pressures?

So the pressures you folks are talking about are for the round, however can you find out how much the receiver/bolt and barrel were rated/tested for? maybe the svt was overbuilt/ had good metal and can take the .308 max pressures with ease, maybe not!

The thing is these are just numbers there no unit of measure and how they were measured. Even if they are bith PSI they might be messure differently so who know the actual difference.

The numbers are hard to compare as one is SAMMI standard and the other is European (CIP I believe). I think they may measure from different spots on the case even though they are both measured in PSI.

You would need to measure them both by the same standard to be able to compare them to one another fairly. Are any Western Manufacturers making commercial x54 now (Winchester, Remington ect) if so they have SAMMI data on their rounds and can compare directly to the .308. All my x54 is European! Even the commercial stuff I have.

That's the issue I've been having - finding a manufacturer or governing body who includes both x54r and 308 in one publication. Saami doesn't include x54r in their publication on their website so all the info I'm getting on it is from random posts on the internet, which bodes poorly for accuracy at best.

Found some info on the CIP website, but I'm unfamiliar with Bar measurements so I'm not really understanding it.

From that it does corroborate the earlier post here coming out as 56 500psi for x54r and 60 100 for 308, though that was converting from Bar to Psi using google... and I don't know anything about this so I have no idea if that was correct.
