The prices being asked for bits and pieces of SVT are boggling my mind.Looks like $300-350 average price for whole rifle, parted out it would fetch $400-500 or more if EE prices are actually being paid.And a few xmases ago these were $200 rifles.What's up with that? I know that used stuff seems to be worth more than new retail frequently on EE, but???:confused:
 
200$ was a real deal, i doubt you will see this again...

350$ is the average price for a good condition example.

Take a look at Gunbroker and see how much people are asking in the US...

Even at 350-400$ its a lot of gun for the money. The will gain in value in the next years thats for sure.
Buy one of more during its *cheap*.

Perhaps the ending of the long rifle registry has led lots of guys like me into getting licenced and we are buying up what looks good. And for me, the collection in post #4 looks really good, I want the same collection X 2.

The rates in the US compared to Canada are as different as the import restrictions of each country. Availability due to laws/restrictions does not always reflect what is available on the market or how much value that item has. Nevertheless, its looking like the swell of SVT40s that hit the Canadian market has passed. When you have the seemingly last few of something, the price naturally goes up.
 
Get them at the current price while you can, which is still a decent price as far as I look at it. Wartime production larger caliber battle rifle that's fun to shoot for around $400 is still a good deal.
 
I got my first SVT about 6 years ago, for $400.
I thought that was a good price at the time, for a well made, good condition WW2 milsurp from the Soviet Union.
Then they started dropping...
When they got to $289, I got another two and a crate of ammo at a package price.
Later, Lever Arms in Van had them for $200 each for a short time.
I went to get a specific factory and year, etc. but they didnt have it.
I was just about to walk out empty handed, then thought it would be stupid not to get another one!

If you already have a few, then $350 is still decent.
You will be pissed off if you dont and 10 years from now, you'll be whining that you could have...
 
I wonder.... when I bought my 2nd SVT 40 for my Dragunov project last year, people were saying surplus was running out and dealers were saying they didnt think they would be getting any again.... but then they did. This little recession in SVT 40 #'s does get me thinking i should buy another one and keep it all original though. Cus one year, they will run out, im just not betting $400 dollars that it is this year lol
