Just think about what it would be like to be in WWII and have you bolt action gun in hand and then hear a troop of Ruskies bang out 10 rounds each of 7.62X54r with semi auto speed.
I think that would have been frightening!! It's all part of the magic of that rifle. The fact that the Germans loved it too... ect. I love my SVT40! If I got the same gun I did from Lever Arms, I would be happy to pay upwards of $600 for it. The Americans are overpaying in my opinion but in that case it's supply vs demand and not necessarily value. In actual fact I think I got mine for $350 as a hand select so I'm very happy. Everything from the looks, feel, and even its accuracy is great. It beat out my stock SKS for accuracy until I bedded the SKS. Now they're about the same.
