Looking to pick up an svt in the next few weeks. My buddy just bought the last one in my area so it looks like I'll be turning to one of our fine board sponsors for help. I see that marstar, frontier firearms, and westrifle have stock. I'm leaning towards marstar as they seem to have a little more selection. Anyone bought one from these guys? Happy with the quality? Buying a new gun online is one thing, but a milsurp is really a crap shoot. Is there a preferred arsinal? I'm sure most of the prime ones were snapped up long ago so maybe it doesn't matter where I get it. Any other recommendations on suppliers welcome

Westrifle has GORGEOUS Russian guns, and you get to see the exact one you're buying. Plus, you're only paying 5% tax as you're not in BC...

That said, I don't see any SVT in stock at Westrifle...

If you're thinking about one, do it now.... The only new stock came into SFRC, and Ryan had to price them at $449 as he says the supply chain out of Ukraine has dried up (can't imagine why...). Even Weimajack is sold out...

Kovrov/Podolsk arsenal is less common, but pretty hard to find, especially now.

Stock seems to be drying up all around...

psmilitaria has a few, and selling them in the $300-$350 range, which is a good deal in the current market. Reputable dealer. You can go through the listings and pick a specific year/arsenal. Get one with the scope mount grooves if you can. It gives you more options down the road, even if you don't want to scope it right away. They command a slight premium now, and that premium will only increase over time.

Man, I'm glad I got one last year for $200.00, which was a "good" price at the time, and keeps looking better by the day.

You're right. I got my supplier mixed up. Not a sponsor so maybe I shouldn't mention them. AVT or navy stock preferable?

Mine is a navy stock... Just makes it a little more interesting. Don't think any of them are home runs for collecting, unless you can fin unissued/non-refurb.

Ishvesk made fewer than Tula, so I suppose they're more desirable too...

Twice as many parts as the SKS. Start with the minimum gas setting and turn it up until it cyckes properly, to keep it from beating itself to death.
Post '42 they simplified the muzzle brake to a large dual port, instead of the original 6 port design. Loud as Hell but they shoot very smoothly with that brake. Whichever you get, you're sure to love it. Enjoy!

You'll love it, once you field strip it 1-2 times you'll realize how easy it is to strip and clean. Not much more work than an sks imho, but much more fun to shoot than an sks.

Keep your eyes open in the EE, there were a couple for sale the other week.
