SVT Scope Mount? What's better

Hi I'm about to buy a scope mount for my SVT and haven't made up my mind yet. I've read all the posts I can see back to the start of this forum and I really can't determine which is the better between the Corwin picatinny slide on(hammer) type or the other canadian mount which is the Addley? mount. I hear the Addly slides forward due to not having a rear end device to control recoil and forward movement. I haven't heard if a fix for this is completed yet. The Corwin seems to address this problem with a bolt and nut set up through the trigger take down hole. I haven't heard any reviews about the Corwin set up but it seems that it could hold up to the recoil better. The recoil seems quite light with the SVT being semi, nothing like a mosin anyway! So if anybody is running any of these mounts Id like to hear from both camps. How is the cheek weld? Is one lower than the other? Is it sliding or on good? and how is it perfoming and holding up? I know there are a few people with these two mounts and a follow up of your opinions would be very helpful!
Thanks in advance. Cheers.

I posted the review in the Corwin-Arms forum.

It doesn't move. At all. The recoil of the SVT blew out the rings I was using, but the mount itself was rock solid.

Thanks. I read your review and I agree it probably has the edge over the other similar mount. I'll give Corwin a call and try that mount. Thanks for the reply and for your original post. Cheers

True. I've scoped a mosin so the SVT is next on the list. Most of these mounts look like you need a neck the length of a giraffes to see through. I'd be on a chin weld with that one for sure! Right now I'm into function over form and not too concerned if it isn't period correct. I have a better time shooting when I have a little magnification to work with. The SVT should be great scoped. Looking forward to trying it out once the mount shows up. Cheers

You could just pick up the repro mount and scope from Corwin and give it that real "authentic" look. All it take is a round file, and some gun blue. That's what I did to mine and it looks great. But that's just my 0.02

Part of that is based on a different marksman's philosphy... Soviet (Russian) doctrine, as well as a lot of European marksmanship, is actually based on a chin weld, which keeps your head on a more vertical axis than a cheek weld, which tends to force your head at a slight offset angle.

If you ever want to stir up a crapstorm on a European marksmanship board, start a "which is better, chin or cheek weld" discussion, it's worse than pitting the 9mm vs .45ACP guys against each other on an American board.
