big bear: I've paid as little as $450.00 for one from a knowledgible collector who wasn't trying to gouge. Others that have been posted for sale by individuals or companies like Lever seem to typically be in the $650-750 range. Lots of guys were lucky and paid the going rate for regular refurbs before sellers caught on. My only comment would be that you must be aware that these refurbed snipers (or former snipers) mainly don't have a lot of their original parts still with them. In general, only that little notch on the rear of the receiver distinguishes them (although I have a suspicion there are other significant differences). If you simply want a SVT sniper to shoot consider buying a normal refurb with siderails and the best bore you can find. Spend 10 minutes with a file and you'll have a repro- field expedient sniper. I have several originals but do a lot of shooting with a repro made from a $200 Lever Christmas special.

98%+ of the mounts in Canada are repro mounts and are not 100% correct - many people that shoot their snipers find that the repro mounts actually damage the notches on original snipers - so if looking for a shooter making a repro sniper with a file or dremel tool is the way to go. I made one up for a customer that wanted one - took all of 10 minutes of shop time for a simple notch that fit the repro mount securing pin perfectly - trying to reproduce a 'real notch' would be done properly with a file or milling machine and would take more time.
With SVT's all but dried up - pick one up for $350 or less and make a repro.
With more and more people 'in the know' original snipers are going to stay in collections or move between serious SVT collectors and the majority on the marked will go for premium prices.
