I got a box in the mail today.. :D

A very nice 1941 SVT40! This one could have been made while the Japanese were steaming to Pearl! It could have been in use when the attack was under way! Lol.. :D Ok Ok on with the pics..

The details..

Izhevsk arsenal.

Receiver, trigger guard and stock #'s match. The stock has 5 arsenal repairs. A few more than I would have liked, but it IS the correct stock so... and the repairs all look solid still.

Bolt, carrier electro penciled to match. Magazine serial number struck out and new number electro penciled, does not match gun's number. Magazine riveted to 5 through spine

Bore looks in great shape, although I have not run a patch through it yet. Bored now cleaned looks bright, crisp, no sign of erosion.

Not quite sure about the muzzle break. I was expecting the 6 gill style. I will have to research that some more.

This one does have the import stamping.

The rifle had most of the cosmoline gone already with the internals nicely coated in oil. The oiler is still mummified in the stuff! :O lol

For just under $400 to my door I'm pretty happy.

*EDIT* I can thank the last few threads over the past week on these for forcing me to me buy one! Don't know why I waited so long.. Get 'em while you can!

Nice rifle! the muzzle brake is the later version, from my understanding used to cut production time/costs. Don't worry about the arsenal repairs, they are tough as nails. Is the rifle Tula or Izhevesk?

I got a 1941 ishevsk last december from frontier firearms too. Mine had a lot more cosmoline on it, and for some reason the bolt carrier looks like it was painted black because i can't get the stuff off. Only had one arsenal repair but, unfortunately the trigger group had a major jam after only 6 shots last weekend, but i guess thats why i have an m1 garand too.

i got 1940 ishevsk in jan and barely any cosmoline from frontier. I took mine out and boy was it fun to shoot! have fun with yours! I could be wrong but i bet mine was never even used during the war... probably sat in a warehouse some where.

I am wondering how much did you guys paid for it. Also for Frontier I see two prices one for 300 and one for 400 dollars. What makes it $100 difference.

The reason I am asking is because I am going to have a limited number of those. All matching numbers ones in excellent shape. I don't want to price them and then people will say ohh it is too much. I want to know how much is it worth realisticlly.

:If they are the standard Soviet refurbs with electropenciled matching serial numbers I think what the site sponsors were asking is fair. If they are original (non refurb/non plum bolt etc...) they would be worth a bit more. Number wise I can't say as I havnt seen any for sale in Canada. Try and find us some SVT 38s and SA marked Finn Captures! :p:p

I have a feeling they arent exactly as common as your run of the mill SVT :p

So if those are not ###xx not repaired stock then 400 is a good price? I am new to SVT market so explain what does a person looks for when he buys one?

A non-refurb svt 40 must have polished bolt and carrier(in the white). a non-refurb svt 40 very good to excellent, i would pay 400-500$ but its me:)
I will wait your shipment, maybe i would buy a svt with the sks49 you found for me:p:D

We will post pictures ones it arrives. We will see how it will leave our warehouse.

Does a year makes a difference?

Well, the grooved receiver for scope mount was discontinued in 1942. So models built before 1942 have thoses grooves and models after doesnt. Also somes ex-sniper with the notch on the receiver cover may sell for a bit more depending of the condition.

Sergei: Are your rifles coming in with blued bolts and EP numbers to match everything up, or have you located some more collectible examples?

Gentlemen;

Any ideas on the value of an SVT-40, original, 1940, Finn stampings, numbers scrambled, 6-slot muzzle-brake, good bore? Mag is only 5 (cut down) but I have 2.

Believe it or not, I got the very LAST one that Globe had, many years ago! Almost all the rest went for 555s. Still, better'n nuthin'.

Have fun!

As we are new to SVT rifles. First shipment is a test run. You guys as a buyer can tell us what to look for. All I know is that I wanted the best pieces and this is what was brought to us for choosing. I treated it like SKS kind of deal. No ### numbers. I got a few sniper ones with a grove. I did not want any repaired ones or put together from parts. I will post pictures ones it comes.
