hey guy I have taken my new svt 40 out twice now and both times I get a fail to fire half the time, I know its not the ammo because I use it in my m44 and 91/30 without any fail to fires. I turned up the gas setting to 1.5 from 1.3. I have taken the bolt right out and cleaned the hell out of it and will do again tonight. When I take out the round that hasn't fired I see a pretty strike mark on the primer. What do you guys think it is? hey joce I know your out there somewhere

Yeah, if you're getting light primer strikes without firing, it sounds like there must be something gummed up in the bolt itself, stopping the pin from getting in a good, solid hit.

Just watching WWII documentaries, the svt40 was used way more than I thought! I was told by a member to soak the bcg in synthetic motor oil for 30 minutes. Good luck on your firing, post pics plz

Like was said, remove the firing pin and clean it and the return spring too, inspect the pin for wear also, reassemble dry. Also, clean the trigger group to remove any cosmo from the hammer spring, light strike problem might be there.

Joce

You might also want to look to make sure your chamber is clean so your bullet seats all the way. Your bolt needs to close 100%. Shove a .410 brush in there on the end of a cordless drill to make sure its free of any build up.
