SVT40 most wanted

1945 are the rarest as production stopped in the first few days of January 1945, all would have been made at Tula aresnal.
Kovrovs aresnal are collectible as they were only made for 6 months. 1941-1942
Non-refurb or bring backs Svt I know a lot of people would love to find, and would pay nicely for them.
And finish captures people would like as well.
 
I've got an SA marked SVT40, 1941 dated, has not been refurbished by the Russians. Still, trigger housing and receiver serials do not match. I am so used to thinking on K98 lines and their matching numbers. Did the SVT40 have matching serials?

the most rare are from greatest to least IMO

-1940 built on a SVT38 receiver
-Finn or German capture
-Non refurb
-1945
-Kovrov
-Sniper
 
The rare SVT would be from greatest to least(just an opinion)
-SKT 40, a carbine version made in 41 or 42. Mostly field conversions, extremely rare.
-SVT 40 built with a SVT 38 receiver
-SVT 40 1945 dated(production ended january 3 1945) possibly less than a thousand made.
-non refurb SVT(mostly finn capture or german)
-Kovrov
-sniper(55 900 made)
-1944 dated SVT (last full year of production)

I would agree with the majority of the feedback provided.

Realistically one could find a Kovrov or a Sniper. Rare - Yes

I have seen far less 1944's and 1945's.

I have seen even fewer SA's (Finnish captures), let alone a bring back none SA marked.

I have seen one picture of a Carbine (field arsenal made).

The early no side rail rifles are probably as rare as a Sniper or Kovrov. IMHO
 
With my own search for SVT's I have obtained these rarer variations:
Kovrov (both types of ovals with arrow)
Snipers (Tula 1941 and 1941)
No side rail (Tula 1941)

I have had the opportunity to purchase but missed out on:
Finnish Capture Receiver
SVT-38
Tula 1944
Finnish Capture SVT40

What is very rare is an original Sniper mount. 99% are repro's. There are many SVT scopes out there but again the vast majority have a CB (Calibrated for the Mosin Nagant Sniper). Finding an original SVT scope without this calibration would also be a rare find.
 
first and foremost look for condition. secondly look for condition, thirdly, well you get the idea.
 
I just picked up my first SVT40, Its a 1941 tula with no reciever rails and is in very nice shape. looks to be refurb but I cant wait to shoot it and a nice addition to my small red rilfe collection (1951 tula sks and cz858) and soon to be Mosin
 
also proper SVT slings are very rare and during WWII mosin slings were mostly used. I have always heard PPSH sling were used during the war but most the pics from WWII show Mosin dog collar sling on SVTs.
