I have two problems with my svt40. the first is that my bolt/nut that holds the barrel in the stock seems to be stripped. after examining the bolt the threads look fine so I assume the problem lies with the nut in the stock. are these available and are they easily removed and replaced? the second problem is that the bolt/carrier assy. seems to jam up from time to time. this does not happen every time out but has happened twice in about 10 outings. the recoil spring seems to get lodged in a spot where the bolt does not pull back all the way in the action. It pulls back part way and you start to feel like it is jamming up. it will not cycle properly when this happens. the bolt starts to feel tight about have way back in the action. dis-assembly and reassembly fixes the problem and the rifle fires once again. any ideas?
 
Double check the straightness of the spring coupler and springs in the carrier. If there is an alignment problem it may not manifest itself unless the springs and coupler get oriented a certain way to cause binding.
 
Be aware that there appear to be different lengths of the cross pins. I purchased one with a later thick stock that had a pin that was too short to properly engage the threads in the nut. Found a longer one on another rifle that fit. Regarding the recoil springs, if there are kinks in one it is possible to carefully straighten it out a bit using needle nose pliers.

Yes sometimes youl find an svt crosspin in an avt stock. It won't reach the nut. Have a peek and alsee if there is any threads engaged from the nut side

Look for a used gun dealer near you. I have had a lot of luck buying used parts off them. Since they deal with the guns they usually have a bunch of extra parts in the back from guns that weren't working and they salvaged. Request to Talk to the gun tech and he will help you out.
