SVT40 weapon of choice for the Soviet navy?

The Germans LOVED them and issued their own manual for it after capturing hundreds of thousands of them. They were a true battlefield prize. Look back at the pic of the German MP examining one - its easy to see he's pretty happy to have his hands on an SVT!

The SVT 40 is a wonderful rifle but still lots of peoples that dont fully appreciate it.

Like most "East-bloc" shootin' irons. I(we) grew up in an era when, the only good thing from "east-bloc" was an empty bus. It was a sad bit 'o' propaganda. Mosin's are underated, SVT's are underated too.

I don't think the .303 converted SVT's did much to improve "street-cred." here either

How very, very wrong ESP. in the case of shooting Irons. Pellet guns too...My Dad came from Berlin to Canada in '57. He's old enough to remember "non-tourist" visitors to the city (His first piece of chewing gum came from an American Soldier). Very "pro" squarehead...his Mauser(mine now) is a VZ24 BRNO! "The best Geman rifle is Czech"!

Fantastic pictures!

I don't know who wouldn't like the SVT? Its 10 rounds (5 for us because having 10 would suddenly cause us to go on shooting rampages) of 7.62x54R that can be fired more rapidly than the almost perfect Mosin Nagant.

The only experience I have with the SVT though is the GlobeCo 555 Mohawk aka the .303 conversion. I would love to get a real SVT in my collection.
