SVT40's with FAKE Nazi Markings

So far the only probable original "Capture Stamp" on this thread is the 1891 Mosin Rifle with the Nazi Eagle over KRU 1. I own it and unable to get any history from previous owner.
I would like to read a book on these arsenal refinishing factories 1941-45. I only once read on the net, years ago, that Kharkov on the eastern front was used as KRU weapons rebuild factory, captured factory with captured weapons.

I think the two rifles posted by badger are bad as well.

E/497 is the Waa acceptance stamp for
Johannes Grossfuss, Metall-U Lackierwarenfabrik, code bpr
H.W. Schmidt, Metalwarenfabrik, code brg
Both in Dobeln, Sachsen.

Both companies made K98K buttplates. Those SVts are just as bad as all the others.

I agree, the similarities in finish & proofs make me think these have been humped at the source.

I do find it extrememly interesting that the MG34 is set up on the Lafette without the MGz34 Optic. I wonder if it was that they lost it during a hasty reposition or that they were fighting close enough that the optic wasn't any benefit since the zero was 1000m.

I dont think anyone is trying to slander you agentcq. I believe they came from europe this way, but they have been ebellishing K98s with SS markings as well.

And nabs, this isnt a waffenamt. This stamp is in the style of fireproof, which would only be applied to a german made item i believe. Bolt, receiver, barrel.

I had a mosin nagant marked like this stamped in europe, it also had SS stamps all very Fake.

I will acknowledge that after multiple view points shared that the markings are likely "enhanced/fake" markings.

Both rifles were sold for a none premium price and both owners seem happy with their rifles. If you check my sellers rating, all other purchasers of standard SVT's have also been very happy with their rifles/service.

At the request of another member, I have posted two pics of a similar rifle I found five years ago and sold three years ago. The eagle is almost identical and the finish is the same. When purchased SVT's were selling for over $550 during the first series of imports

I agree that the finish seems identical to other "enhanced" rifles shared by other members which have turned up in Western Europe. Due to the finish etc, I believe that these rifles were probably enhanced at or near their origin in Eastern Europe and have been mistakenly advertised at premium prices in western markets. Thanks to members on this forum, a price correction was provided to the buyers of these rifles. What is interesting is the slings in one crate were dated from 1947-1971. Which means the crate was sealed after 1971. That still leaves a pile of mystery as to when these rifles could have been marked/re-finished

I have also attached a picture of two fake stamps sold in the USA. The right stamp is the Numrich Stamp and left stamp is a Kamabee Keep Stamp. Both still do not look right; but they do not match the markings on any of the "enhanced" SVT's found. This makes me confident that these rifles are not being falsely marked in North America.

When packing away my own crate of SVT's and when going through the SVT's sold I was amazed and the multiple variations in rifles/accessories. At least five different variations in SVT take down wrenches out of six wrenches examined. Out of 12 cloth tool kits only two were identical in cut/cloth material/stitching and the list goes on. I guess there is still slim possibility that these markings may be legit (rare variation), but I will concede to the masses in the opinion that they are enhanced.

This has been an excellent lesson in collecting. I appreciate the constructive criticism and intellectual assessment provided by several members of this forum. To those lacking in maturity and are entertained by small minded drama...no comment.

Looking at the pictures of the German soldiers with SVTs has me greatly amused that "the mighty" German war machine could not produce a decent working self loading rifle like the Soviets. :D

I agree agentcq, the svts along with lots of enhanced K98s were likely done in Ukraine or similar.

Since the Collector's Markets are Worldwide, the Humping Grounds can exist on every Continent, On Land, At Sea, Underground in someone's Basement, Every Nook and Cranny, except in outer space...
