SVTs

Because usually refurbishing process involved full disassembly (only receiver and barrel pair was retained), and then rifles were built from the parts bins indiscriminately.

I remember when Russian sks's were all the rage in the early 90's with some really crazy prices. Same reasoning we're hearing today with the svt's. I suspect once some of the trade issues et al cool off, a warehouse or two of these things will miraculously be found.

Cheers

SVT's were not produced in anywhere near the same quantity as SKS's were. And they all went through this little kerfluffle known as "World War II" - where the majority that were produced were lost/destroyed in combat.

Large numbers were also scattered out amongst the old CommBloc nations, where they were used as training/drill rifles and used/abused until they were no longer functional, and then melted down for scrap metal.

Now, that's not to say that a few caches won't be dug up here and there, but I doubt we'll ever see SVT's below $400 retail again... Probably more like $500-$600 if they return.

And remember, Canada isn't the only market for old commie guns. The Russians are perfectly happy to sell them to whoever will pay cash. I would be unsurprised to see whatever is left has been sold off to various North African free-fire zones.
