Just wondering if this looks like the original finish on this revolver? Bought it and didn't know from the pics myself, but since then another individual on the forum has advised me that this has been refinished at some point. Another member said that this was a lower quality finished duty gun so it may infact be original.

What do you all think? And one way or the other, what kind of value am I looking at? Bore is mint. Action and trigger are incredibly light and smooth. Only a couple small dings in the grip.

Thanks

That's not original finish. Looks like someone Cerakoted it.

My 28-2 was nice polished blue. Mind you this was PPC modded but still the original finish.

Finish doesn't look original, I'd call that a matte blued or bead-blasted but not polished. Quite possible that when it was sent in for a refinish that it received an action/trigger job. If you bought it as a shooter then it shouldn't really bug you assuming it shoots well. As for value I'd say around 6 or 7 hundred. Those grips look like non-relieved diamond target grips which would be a great score and worth a couple hundred themselves depending on condition. Any more photos with the grips? Any serial number stamped on the inside of the grips, if so I'm guessing it doesn't match the gun, or does it?

looks like it was bead blasted and reblued alright, the duty models where a matt , but smooth finish as per my P.M. to you.
I have had bright blue, but also a couple that where matt finish. I don't remember what series they where, been a few years ago.
The sights should not be blasted when a gun is refinished, Smith never would do that, same with the screws.

I got is as part of a package deal, and as I already have a colt, this one is up in the EE. Would be an amazing shooter. Trigger and action stand out as the best ive ever had in a revolver.

Grips have no SN. Heres a better picture.

Sorry my mistake, looks like those are relieved after all. Fairly worn too. As with the finish if you bought it as a shooter, probably no big deal.

Yeah, 100% refinished of some sort. The 28-2 had a less-polished finish that the Model 27 but they were still blued not whatever this is.
Here's the 28-2 I used to own.

The grips worn out and definitely not original finish. Price for that? If I was collecting wouldn't even be interested, if you got a 12.6 I have seen very good condition 28-2 going for $399, so I would put the value of that somewhere below that.
