hello guys, I need your feedback again, Im having a hard time choosing between the 3 models, planning to use it for IPSC. price wise the Gp 100 is much cheaper for about $150 than the 686, and the 625 is more expensive for $200 than 686, kindlly share your experience with regarrds to its accuracy, reliability, action wise and durability . and parts/ service wise. thanks again

Hi,

All are excellent revolvers. If you want the gun primarily for IPSC, then get the 625. It makes major easily, and the moonclips are way faster to reload, not to mention cheaper, than speedloaders. You can get the .357s modified to take moonclips, but it will cost, and you have to ship parts to the USA unless somebody has started doing the mod in Canada.

Gunnar at Armco is doing the mods on the 686's

I'd personally go with the 625 if it's for IPSC

For IPSC go with the 625 if you found one available for sale. 5 inch models (non-prohib in Canada) are scarce and well worth the extra $$. You can make major no problem with the 625 and moonclips are far cheaper and more available for the .45.

Unless you're prepared load to .357 magnum levels and preferably using .357 brass, it's difficult to make major with the .357. 0ne person i know had to load to +P levels just to barely make minor.

thanks for all the inputs, I am limiting my choices to 686 and 625, the thing is I just got a safariland 002 holster for my 586,then sold the gun a week ago, although Im reloading for 38/357 and 45cal, so the ammo is not a question. just wondering if anybody is selling a holster for the 625.

Try Kramer leather in Washington State. Kramer made the holster I use with my 4" N-frames. Regards, Richard :D

Hi,

If you don't want an all-out IPSC competition holster like the CR, then I highly recommend this one http://www.kytac.com/page9.html I had one and sold it when I sold my 625. I had a Kramer previously, and the KyTac was way quicker. I also found the Kramer didn't follow the curve of the body very well and put a pressure point on my hip. YMMV.
