SW M&P .22 25 round mag issue

" And labeled as a rimfire magazine is NOT good. The magazines in question are labeled as rimfire, it is because S&W marketed it for both the pistol and rifle version. "

Yeah, I know all that. That's why I said; "labeled as a rimfire rifle magazine."

So if I do pin my mag myself, to limit it to ten rounds, that should be good enough.
If the RCMP send the local police to fetch my mag, they will only find a completely legal 10 round mag.
Or isn't it this simple?

Is this still not Canada? Innocent until proven guilty. If the word of a law abiding Canadian Citizen is not good enough for them, then we have a lot more problems then this mag issue, the provincial election and anything else. At some point, we will have to take back our Canada, I just hope there is something worthwhile left to reclaim.

This among many other things is the reason why the whole Firearms Act must be thrown out.

Your word is indeed worthless. The rifle I purchased came with a 10 round shorty mag. I informed them of this, but that is not good enough. I have to provide proof (from the seller, and verified) that the rifle came with the 10 round magazine.

Tell them to come check, you will happily submit to an inspection. Then, note the wasted time to the media.

Prohib mags !

Send them all to dilton mkunnty in Ontarriarrio prior to the election then call the RCMP and advise them that he is in possession of a large quantity of prohibited devices - :dancingbanana:ha:Laugh2

this magazine capacity bull#### is getting out of hand. Is there a way to find out how many guns that could use high capacity mags that were used in crime had "legal" magazines. I'm betting none.

They might advise you that it must be verified by an authorized verifier, seeing how I doubt they would just take your word for it. :)

Yes. The verifier thing is just as stupid. Lots of people have magazines for various rifles and pistols that were acquired prior to the current idiotic state of our gun laws. These magazines were either taken to the local gun shop to be pinned, or done in the basement/garage. No muss, no fuss. No receipts, no demands for proof. They took our word for all of those magazines. Why not now?

This whole thing is absolutely asinine, everybody knows it, and I would think that the people who are fielding phone calls and such in response to the letter, and verifying compliance must know that too.

I think that had RCMP sent a letter to tell people they need to ensure that their magazines are compliant, people would have done so anyway without the heavy handed threat of a wee hours flashbang through the window(since the consequences are already well known...they didn't need to threaten us. Tell us, and be done with it. If we are caught in violation, as with anything else, there are consequences) That's how it was done with the previously owned mags. We've done it already with respect to those older mags.

Again, tell me why that approach was deemed unacceptable now?

I have a dipper who flip-flopped last year on the registry vote, for an MP. However, I am sufficiently annoyed and agitated, as in losing sleep over it, that I will be calling him on Monday.

Well, it's been a day since my starting this topic.... nothing from North Sylva yet. I guess it's the weekend, so fair enough. Let's see if they reply in the next few days.

Calling them results in a genetic [edit: generic] answering machine message.

So after getting the mag pinned, are we supposed to take it to get verified? Because I am not spending any more money on this ridiculous issue.

So I am going to mail the mag out, call them on the 39th day of compliance and if they want to see it they are welcome to come and see it!

I received a notice from the RCMP that I was noted to have ownership of this rifle, and therefore, at least one of these (25 round M&P 15-22 magazine), and I had three choices:
1) Have North Silva alter them to take only 10 rounds
2) Exchange the 25 rounders for 10 rounders at " a business that is licensed to possess and acquire prohibited devices
3) Surrender the magazine to the police for disposal
I tried calling North Silva to see how to go about sending in my mags for conversion, but only got voice mail, and emails wouldn't go through!
I am to advise the CFP withing 40 days (dated from Sept.6/11..received Sept.14/11)
which option I was going to pursue.
If I don't respond within that time period, "the matter will be referred to your local law enforcement agency."
Stay tuned for the next thrilling installment of "Bloated, Renegade Federal Agency Upholding Arcane and Antiquated Regulations by Bullying Innocent, Law Abiding Gun Owner"....it's going to be a 'cliff-hanger... nail-biter'.....Fo shizel!

I would just pin it then sit on it.. they come get a warrent.. have the mag pinned so everything is legal then film them coming in..

Please contact jeff@northsylva.com to arrange to have your magazines modified.

o Address

o Phone Number

o PAL

o Serial Number of their rifle

o Quantity of magazines to be sent in for modification

o Credit Card Number – There is a service charge of $10 + tax. The letter does say service is free, but that was an error on the RCMP's part.
