I just bought Toller's SW Model 17-3 .22rf revolver.

I'm going to buy some ammo for it to see what it likes.

Anyone have any advice on what ammo their K22's like?

Also how are the original wooden stocks for target shooting and a little short range, spirited double action work?

It will like just about any ammo. The chambers in these are very tight and once they start to get dirty you'll find it kinda hard to insert a round. They have excellent triggers and are very accurate. I had no issue with the wood grips.
Keep an eye on the ejector rod loosening up. If it does, you won't be able to get the cylinder out until you tighten it back up again.

A revolver will eat just about anything you throw at it without probs, but I try to stick to copper plated or copper washed. A little less leading and a little easier to clean after.

i'm just using american eagle and it seems to be fairly clean. as mentioned above, the chambers get sticky very quickly. I keep a pistol rod and a 22 cal brush handy with some kroil and brush them out every hundred runds or so. some K22's are worse than others this way, similarly with ammo.

As far as the factory grips, i'm not sure what they are good for, but if I recall you carry a 66, and I'd use the same grips as you have on the 66.

That was a good buy and you wil enjoy that pistol

My 17 eats everything I put in it. I only shoot copper plated or copper washed bullets, sometimes the round in the bottom left side of the cylinder backs out after the first shot causing the cylinder to lock. Very accurate and easy to clean, mine has aftermarket grips on it.

I have a 17-6, full lug barrel, and it also eats everthing. As S-7 said, the chambers are tight and I find after a 200+ rounds, extraction becomes more difficult. I am now looking for accurate ammo that is also clean burning.

It is extremely accurate and a pleasue to shoot.

My 17 eats anything but its diet of choice is Win T22. Although its brother, the Model 19, wears Hogue Monogrips for some reason I never put a set on the 17 and I like it just fine factory equipped. The 17 was my first revolver , I have never regretted my decision and its still my favourite some 28 yrs later.
Regards, Waba
