I recently purchased a used model 17. Within the first 50 rounds, I had a unknown squib, then fired again and it pushed the squib out.
The barrel has a barely noticeable bulge and a portion of rifling has been ringed. I have fired it since and to me the accuracy still seems acceptable.
This is the accuracy at 10-11 yards, off hand, using Remington golden bucket ammo.
I have a replacement barrel but I don't know if it makes sense to replace the barrel.
Does it make sense to replace the barrel, have the current barrel sleeved or have the barrel shortened to just behind the ringed portion?
