SW MP 2 MA Compliant 10Lb Trigger Reduction options

Hello Everyone,

I have a S&W M&P 2 MA Compliant which has a 10lbs trigger. I bought it in rush on the final days of the ban. Now that there is no option to own any other handgun. Has anyone reduced the trigger weight to more of a normal trigger?

There are few option I looked at.

1. Apex Trigger Flat-Faced Forward Set Trigger Kit for M&P M2.0
This is an expensive option and I reached out to Apex and they said they are unsure about how much it would go down to. They estimated it would go down to 5.5 pounds. It would be better than what I have right now but not super low. Apex did say if i put if I put in “ standard factory trigger return spring and the standard factory sear spring” it would make it normal. Where would I even find those in Canada?

2. Apex also makes a polyester version which I’m unable to find in canada so not sure if is even an option for being more affordable.

3. Mcarbo Spring kit. This is the most affordable option out there but Mcarbo is unsure if it will help with 10lb and how much it will go down.

I looked at the videos and will be performing the task myself to save some $$.

Has anyone done this?

I can't speak to a M&P 2.0 but I put the Apex flat face trigger kit in my Gen 1 M&P and it made a huge difference. Since heavier trigger pulls are usually caused by heavier springs and connectors rather than actual design differences from gun to gun my admittedly amateur opinion would be that changing the trigger and associated springs would solve your problem. While the Apex kits aren't cheap they are high quality and mine got rid of the creepy, crunchy factory M&P trigger to a smooth 3 1/2-4 pounds.

Brownells should be able to provide you with everything you need if you can't source it in Canada.

CTCS carries Apex parts in Canada. I have the curved trigger for my M&p but haven’t installed it yet.

I’d check them out and see if they can help you.
 
I'd try a WTB ad here, for a vanilla OEM trigger. Lots of guys install aftermarket triggers and have the original hanging around. Probably a very cheap solution, and you could add the MCARBO spring kit if you want.

Replacement of the two (MA-compliant) factory springs for two (non-MA-compliant) factory springs is the most obvious course. The springs are fairly easy to find, and fairly inexpensive.

The M&P is fairly straight forward, as noted. It would be silly to send it to a smith. Every year I strip mine down to a bag of parts and run it through an ultrasonic cleaner, once you see how the parts work together, it's a walk in the park
