SW or Ruger

Want to buy a .22 rimfire pistol not sure what to get the Ruger MK111 or a SW 22S1 I have shot a MK111 but don't know anything about the SW22S1
So what should I buy?:confused:
 
They are both nice. My brother has a 22S and i have a ruger II. The mag relesae on the SW is kind of neat as it is in the middle of the front grip. Some dont like that but I think it pretty neat. I understand that the mark III has accomodated for all of the shortcomes of the II (ie Mag release in proper position etc)

Either way they both seem alright to me.
 
One little thing to think about: S&W drops or changes models like every year or two. The cool gun you bought last year in now no longer in production and you now need a part. Ruger seems to keep their models in production for a lot longer time. If we were in the U.S. it would not be a problem with the large numbers of any model being sold but up here in CANADA they may have sold only 1000 before it ceased production and we don't have easy access to their parts system. Just something to think about.
 
The only s&w .22 I would get would be a revolver, All the auto loaders I have seen at the range have been crap(I have not seen all of the models at my range though). I have a mk2, and it has been 99.99% reliable, I recall only one jamb in thousands of rounds(besieds dud rds), and that was probably due to the magazine being extreemly dirty, cleaned the mag and has worked 100% since.
 
I recently made just that decision, went with the S&W 22A, have had nothing but problems. When it shoots, it shoots very well, it is ammo sensitive, and i bought a dud. It is being sent back, the slide doesn't always cycle all the way closed and i get a light strike on the cartridge that doesn't fire.
My g/f bought a Ruger MKIII and hasn't had a hiccup with any type of ammo.
I am not a fan of how the Ruger looks, but it is definately more reliable.
Also, remember that mine has something wrong, right from the factory. I'm sure there are others that have no problems.....

Take a hard look on Browning Challenger II, it has a STEEL frame. Later ones are from aluminium. Very sweet little gun. First hand experience, just sold one recently. The only reason is because I always wanted 22 semiauto with exposed hammer, just personal preference.
 
The only real choice is the Ruger. The smith has firing pin issues on the older ones. Also the newer ones dont rate that accurate in comparison. Teh browning is nice, but pricey for what you get.

Buy a ruger with a bull barrel either govt or 22/45 and youll like it alot.
