SW Revolver Main Spring Replacement

Just ordered a few for my K frame from wolff. They have a 25 buck minimum, so I bought 3@ $12.00 each. Should be good to go now. The original mainspring lasted 33 years.

A lighter (reduced power) mainspring (Leaf spring) will definitely give ignition reliablity issues with CCI and Winchester ammo and primers. Only Federal ammo and primers, I have found from experience, will reliability ignite when using Wolff "light" mainsprings.

Since I don't participate in shooting games anymore (haven't since '92) my mainsprings have remained stock, giving 100% ignition reliability.

I appreciate you comment on the ignition reliability with regard to the main spring. I am getting light strikes on the Blazer Brass 9mm in my 929 on double action. No problems with single action. I have not had similar problems with Blazer Brass 38sp in my 627 on double action.

I just use a factory spring and bend it. My 66 will only reliably ignite Federal primers but it feels great. I could have put less of a bend in it to get more primer compatibility but I don't mind buying Federal primers just for my revolver rounds.

I also installed an Apex revolver firing pin but it didn't seem to change reliability whatsoever.
