I'm thinking of buying one, so i would like to hear from you that use one. I'm not sure what size of objective i should get either the 65mm or the 80mm. I currently don't sheep hunt but would like to get into it so weight is a consideration. right now it would be mostly glass from the truck. will the 80mm give me that much more light that i will be able to spot that much earlier or later in the day. Also is the Hd lens really worth the extra $500+?

Thanks

I have the 65HD and am very happy with it. I had the opportunity to try them all out and IMO there is a definite improvment in definition and color with the HD models. I found the 80mm objective pretty bulky with a minimal improvement in light gathering. Which ever one you chose you won't regret spending the $ on quality optics. I have more money tied up in glass than I do in firearms and I don't buy cheap rifles.

I have Swaro 10x42EL Binos and they are great, I have looked thru the spotting scopes as well, do your research with eyepieces & brands.

Pretty much everything that has been said in this post I agree with. The 80mm body is usually too big to pack while hunting on foot. The STS-65 makes much more sense. The HD is somewhat more expensive $2040 vs $1364 for the non HD (magnesium bodies only) with the ocular choice being $599 for the 20-60 or $774 for 25-50 (wide). About half our customers go with the HD but most still choose the 20-60 vs the 25-50. These prices by the way are pre Sept 01 when the wholesale cost went up for new inventory. I still find that the Swarovski products are the better value compared to Zeiss and Leica as even with the new price increase, they are still considerabbly less $ than the other two. We also sell Zeiss and Leica. Phil.
