I really like how clear and bright the Z3 looks in the store, never had anything fancier than a Bushnell 4200. What other scopes should I be looking at, new and used options? It would be getting mounted on a bolt action rifle getting used from 0-400 yards, being able to see the animal more clearly during low light being the goal. I used to find the 4200 fantastic, but my eyes aren’t what they used to be.

I cross shopped the z3 back when I bought my zeiss v4.
The z3 is clear, bright and crisp. And super light. Great for a hunting scope. I went with the v4 because it was going on a Grendel that I wanted to take out to 800y on steel (as well as hunt with) and had read several accounts where the erectors in the Swaro z3 don't hold up long term when dialing up and down alot. Non-issue if using the BRH for holdovers or occasional dialing. Reticles are personal preference - the BRX is quite fine, I personally think the BRH would be better for hunting as it's alot easier to pick up. Look at them both if you can.
As for buying online, PO is where I'd look first. I know that CSC carries the z3 as well, but you may have to call to see what they have in stock as their webstore isn't always up to date.

I have a z3 and I love it on 7mm. Get the one with the turret,it zeros perfectly and I can ring steel every time at 620yds. That’s as far as I can turn up the turret lol but it’s my hunter, headshots are easy at 200yds

My wife bought me a Habicht 3-10x for an anniversary many years ago and got me hooked. I have since mounted all but two of my rifles with Swaro glass. Recently bought a few more Z3 and Z5 scopes from Precision Optics.

Love my z5 with the BRX reticle. Can send in your exact load data on what ammo you use to swaro and they'll send you the exact hits on the BRX. Works perfect for me, don't need the ballistic turret.
