I've never loaded for the 6.5x55 but have for the 260 remington. I always thought they were ballistic twins, now when I really look at it they aren't.

The swede has a bit more case capacity and gets loaded to milder pressures. Is there any reason with a new Rifle the swede can't be loaded to 260 rem velocities if I use a Chronograph to develop my loads?

Thoughts?

the 6.5x55 has more case taper than the 260 , which can mean more bolt thrust , and possible case stretching when loaded to the same pressure .

that said , the swede preforms well when loaded to the higher pressures in a MODERN bolt action , and works even better after it is recut to a ackley improved case ( less case taper is one of the main changes ) .
