I have a Husky 38 that had to have it's barrel shortened about 1 1/2" due to muzzle and crown damage.I have a military stock and hardware on the way as it was previously sportered but not D+T. Should I get the end of the barrel machined down to re-install the front sight band and sight to make it serviceable or just but a new barrel from Trade-ex? The rifle was given to me from a deceased hunting partner's brother. So there is sentimental value here.I realize with the shortened barrel a bayonet won't fit.Only other part I need is a stock disc if anyone has a spare to aprt with. The rest of the barrel looks minty.Smithwork was quoted at $75- $100 for the old barrel.
