i have recently come across some swedish 6.5x55, the boxes are marked:

20 st (20 pieces)
6,5 mm sk ptr m/94 (6.5mm ?? cartridge model 94)
prj m/41 (?? model 41)
prickskytte

anybody know what the rest of it means? or if i am wrong on my interpretation of the markings.

the headstamp is 8 6 on the sides of the primer and 070 below. is this 1986 manufacture?

any ideas on bullet weight? it is a spitzer type.

i am assuming that it is non-corrosive (i always clean regardless) and berdan primed. can't wait to try it out.

thanks and regards.

Sweden used the metric system.
Spitzers are 139 grains (or 9 grams if IIRC)
The older roundnose ones are 156 grains (is actually 10 grams)

well, a search of the internet answered most of my questions

"skarp patron m/94 projektil m/41 prickskytte
live cartridge m/94, bullet m/41, sniping
This is the ordinary live ammunition, it was developed for the m/41 snipers rifle, but it eventually replaced the old m/94 cartridge. The m/41 bullet is a pointed boat-tailed bullet "torped". Silver-coloured bullets got a copper-nickel plated mild-steel jacket. Gold-coloured bullets got a tombac plated mild-steel jacket."

and it would be 1986 manufacture. the specs say it has a 9 g bullet with a velocity of 790 m/s (2590 fps).

as well as being berdan primed, made by "070 FFV Vanäsverken, Karlsborg"

Hello .... :)

I'm always looking for 6.5 x 55mm Swedish milsurp ammunition, specifically 94/41 prickskytte ammo (139 gr. spitzer) as manufactured for the Swedish M41B sniper rifle, which I have two of them.

Perfect.
Just after I bought myself a Ljungman AG-42B
If you guys DON'T reload, PM me about your once fired brass. I have a feeling that is the way I'm going to go.
TIA

If you are loading for an AG42B make sure there is no long grass anywhere nearby.

Just spewed coffee all over my computer screen!!!I know this is an ancient thread but can I ever relate to this one.I used to rattle off a box of rounds in my AG42B in no time but then spent the rest of the day trying to locate the empties on my hands and knees in the weeds. That rifle really threw the brass.
