I have just acquired this rifle and was looking for a little info on it as I am not too familiar with them.
Was trying to figure out if it was a m94 carbine that has been sporterized or if it is a m96 that has been sporterized and cut down.
I was thinking it was maybe a carbine because it has the shorter finger grips on the front of the stock and the original rear sight mount has the hinge on the right. The rear site on it now has been added.
It's a 1917 serial number 91299. The bolt, bolt handle, bolt release and firing pin are all marked 299. the trigger guard is marked 388 and the butt plate is marked 632.
Any info would be great.
pics updated.

How much would one expect to get for it in a sporterized modified condition?

The picture you posted is absolutely tiny so I can not see. Dead giveaway would be a short rear sight and a bent bolt handle and if its an original stock it should have a sling that goes through the left side of the stock and out the right. As well its more common to see the 2 screw stock unit disk on the carbines than the later 1 screw condition disk. I can't check right now but I believe the serial number makes sense for 1917.

Much better pics, thanks. That is 100% a m94. I would say max $350 for this as there are many Swedish sporters for sale on Intersurplus at a similar price. There is no collector value, even being a carbine, it is too far gone. However, it is an exceptional bush rifle for deer.

It's a parts only, or a sporter only rifle from your pics. It started life as an M94 but it's been drilled and tapped for the rear diopter sight and its been cold blued over the obvious pitting on the barrel.

$250 is right in the ball park.

There is no good way to fix those D&T holes

That doesn't mean it's not a great little hunting rifle as is.
