Swedish M96 Algen 30-06 Range Report

Picked this up from Intersurplus for $250 last month, figured for that price why not. Stripped it down, put put fresh stain on, prettied it up a little. Loaded up some Speer 150gr HotCor over 46gr of IRM4895 and went to the range to try it out. First 2 shots went way high until I figured out where to hold, I'm not an expert with iron sights my any means and I'm half blind too lol. Once I got it figured out it I managed to shoot this little 3 shot group of about an inch or so at 100 yards, didnt have a measuring tape so I used my measuring finger. Still hitting about 5 inches high but Pretty impressed with the old girl, shot much better than I was expecting

That is a darn good investment for 250.00 I'd say. And shoots well to boot that tops it off. I have the same basic rifle but in 9.2x62 and it shoots nicely too.

I really like 96s. Got a stutzen in 6.5x55 and standard in 8x57. Both wear scopes.

They are nice handy rifles without scopes on them.
I also find I can cycle them faster than a m98 action.
