I believe you have posted in the wrong area. Cutting of Military Surplus rifles is frowned upon here. That being said it is your rifle, but don't be surprised if you draw flak.

I would agree, if the rifle is at least a full barrelled action regardless of the stock condition it is worth a lot more as is, than in a cut down condition. So for the sake of saving another one, there is a short version on the E Ex ch it's a 1894 model. Take care.
