Swedish Mauser vs. Llungeman

Geez, had I have been of age at the time of the 150 dollar garand... Buy 10 of them and sell them now... I could have 10,000 dollars! I bought mine a year and a half ago for 699 plus tax and shipping, and even then i was lucky to get that price!

International, gave me a new rifle and 2000 rounds of new manufacture ammunition as replacement.
I hate the Liberals for driving that company from Canada. Marstar is trying but just doesn't get in the selection that Century does in its new home in Virginia.

:agree: It's truly sad... :(

Hard to believe eh? Well I'm 24 years old now. I'm telling you, when I was around 10 S.I.R brought in an order of M1 Garands. I'm sure I still have that flyer around somewhere. $149.99 for the rifle. I'm sure that flyer would have the same effect on most gun lovers as a hustler magazine.

My friend convinced his dad to buy him one. It was a Breda model, dated sometime in the 50's. I don't know if they were all Breda's or what, but they were definitely 149.99!

They sold out. I asked when they would be coming in again, he said he wasn't sure and that they'd probably be around $400. I guess that was when they started going up in price.

I bought a nice one in 1986 that was a good deal at $250.00. Fourteen years ago (when you were 10) the regular swede mausers were already $150, garands were $300 or higher, depending on condition. Too bad you didn't grab that garand, it was half price or less.:)

"...they're going at a good price right now..." What condition? No price is good if the rifle is in poor condition.
"...There's the spelling I'm looking for!..." Hard to misspell AG42B. snicker.
"..."hot ### wrapped in wood"..." Friggin' sicko pervert! snicker.
"...Century..." Purveyors of thousands of Lee-Enfields assembled out of parts bins with zero QC. No headspace check to ensure the rifle was safe to shoot. Wouldn't buy any firearm that Century touched.

My first rifle purchase ever as a Swede 42 semi in the mid '70's. I think I got it from Lever in Vancouver for $49.95 plus postage. Would slam fire my handloads at the worst possible times; while getting ready to sneak up on moose or once in my basement, checking to see if the ammo was sized right for the chamber.
I detested the thing. Weighed a ton, probably half of which was the bolt. Would tear the crap out of my expensive Norma brass, then toss it 20 feet in the bush. I sold it to a guy who thought it looked cool for $50.00. Now 35 years later my buddies and I still talk about that gun.

Sunray, did you ever get the chance to go through the warehouse at International? If you had, you wouldn't curl up your nose. They mostly sold the rifles as they bought them. Even the parts rifles were usually bought that way from some overseas government.
They did have a short period where they bubbaed a bunch of Enfields and Mausers. Most of that was done in Europe, under contract. Many of the rifles that were converted to magnums had their original chambers drilled and a rod welded in place, with the stocks still in place. They also sold those drill rifles for under $20. Excellent actions, some of them still new, with red and white stripes painted around them. I saw pallets of Swede Mausers and Mosin 91 variants from at least 5 different countries, 15 to a row, 10 rows per pallet, strapped down with steel banding. They came out of the shipping containers that way, directly from the arsenal racks. They had thousands of bins of parts. Yes, they assembled rifles and pistols from these parts. The guys I met that were doing it, were knowledgeable and did a good job. They never tried to pass these off as being anything else.

The Ag42B that Kaboomed on me was in excellent condition and all matching. I was lucky that I only got a badly bruised leg. International went good for the whole thing and offered to take care of any time loss at work or medical expenses. I never had a reason to complain about their goods and still miss the stuff they offered and at very reasonable prices.

I'm gonna call you snickers!

-Yes yes I could have used AG42B. It was early morning (for me anyway) and I was worried about getting AG42 and MG42 mixed up... Then I would look completely stupid.
-Pervert is an understatement when it comes to me and milsurps!
-From what I can tell my Enfield is all good. It's got all matching numbers, even the clip. From what I hear that's pretty rare. The guy I got it from, I know him quite well and he says it's a solid rifle! So I have faith!
