I have a Swedish mauser model 38 Husqvarna that has a letter "T" stamped on the front sighjt meaning it is for the 140gr ball load. But it still prints way high with that bullet wieght? Does the front sight come in different heights?Harold

Your not alone with a high shooting Swedish Mauser (6.5x55). Mine, with 140 gr factory or handloads is zero at 300 meters with the site at the lowest setting, or about 10 to 12 inches high at 100 M. The data disc on the stock from my research the arsenal stamp shows mine as a high shooter. A few people I know with the same problem have ground the rear sight ramp down fixing the issue. I chose to leave mine alone and compensate by aiming low. As for different front sights I cannot comment. More experienced Mauser guys here will comment soon.

I know the 96's start at 300 yards but the 38's start at 100 yards? The stock has been bubbaed but I can;t whine as it was given to me free.Husky 1941 had the firing pin missing along with the saftey and cocking piece .Found these in the States so I'm back in buisness except for the sight thing.Don't know if I should restore it or scope it and hunt with it.I had a sporter 38 before and I sure killed alot of moose and deer with it and never recovered one single bullet from game even moose!............Harold

If you need parts contact Trade-ex. They are a site sponsor. They have literally hundreds of Mausers for sale and many parts. They don't list all the parts on their website. They may be able to set you up with something.

Yes there are different front sites available.I recently picked up a 96 that shoots darn near a foot low.Thought the front post was too high, came home and checked my older take offs and they are way shorter.

The "T" on the sight means "Törped" wich is a pionted, boattail bullet of 140 grains (also called M/41 Prick wich is actually 9.07 g (139 grains) @ m.v. of 793 m/s (2600 fps)) as opposed to the original load, namely M/94, round nose, 156 grains, (10.10 g) @ a m.v. of 2300 fps (700 m/s)).

The "T" sights are actually calibrated for a 300 m zero, so you're right on. If you want to change it, there are different front sight heights readily availlable from many companies WW GP shall ahve them, so does Numrich.
