Sw 17

Are you putting the scope on a 17 rimfire? I had what is basically the same scope SW 223 on my 204 ruger, and it was excellent value for the money. I'd buy another one tomorrow. FS

i actually ordered one of these from Midsouth because they seemed like a great deal for a cheap rimfire scope, but cancelled just in time after doing some research on them.

apparently, BSA quality on these is very hit or miss. which is no big deal for an American, because they can purchase one and if there is something wrong with it just return it locally to where they bought it and get an exchange. for a Canadian its a huge hassle of returning it by mail across the border, and some people have had to return them twice until they got one that functioned flawlessly.

IMO too much of a hassle, spend a bit more and get something like a Bushnell Elite or lower end Burris/Leupold that has more consistent quality - and two of those companies have service centers in Canada. i would not buy a BSA scope unless i lived in the States.

I had one on a HMR and found that the vertical adjustment turret (i.e. the one you use all the time) was absolutely inconsistent from one adjustment to the next. Played with it for a few weeks, got fed up, stuck it on a cheapie .22, sighted it in, and haven't touched the adjustment since. I then put a Bushnell on the HMR, which was also supposed to be calibrated for the .17's trajectory. The adjustments are far superior to the BSA's in terms of consistency but the turret markings are not a great match for the actual trajectory. Wound up customizing a turret with marks for 100, 150, 175 and 200 yards. It now seems to work as its supposed to, but it looks like crap.

I wouldn't buy another one of either of these scopes.
