SWFA SS no longer in Canada!

Made by Hakko. In Japan. - dan

Hakko has nothing to do with the SS line, Hakko has been gone from the optics business for quite some time (now called JOL). If I remember correctly, Chris (owner of SWFA) also has stated they have never worked with L.O.W. either.

Originally, the Super Sniper line was made for Tasco. SWFA bought the rights and still has them made by the same japanese company. The HD line is supposedly made by someone else. SWFA keeps it a secret but many SS owners south of the border would receive their new SS scopes with a little sticker left on the underside of the scope, the sticker read 'Kenko optics'.

It was made for Tasco by Hakko. And no, I don't know who they are having manufacturing for them now. - dan

On the subject of L.O.W. .... I purchased some 6x30 bins once that were branded 'Birks' ... not because I am enamored of Birks but because for a little while Birks used to sell a few specific older model Swaroski porroprism bins branded as 'Birks' .... I was 'hopeful' but when I arrived at the vendors place to have a look at what he had advertised I found that these ones were mfr'd by L.O.W. and not by Swaroski .. I was a little disappointed until i tried them out ... and they were damned good binos (well made and excellent optics) for the money ... so I bought em anyway.

I have a brochure by Tikka from when the Tikka company produced the M55 and M65 rifle line... on an end panel of their folding brochure they listed Hakko scopes. I have always thought they must have been at least decent quality to be featured on a Tikka brochure

It's a bit surprising that SWFA does not have a distributer here in Canada. There seems to be some demand.

Yeah, it is kinda surprising. But they haven't been able to keep up with demand Stateside the last few years- guys waited close to a year on some back orders- so the Canadian market is probably down their list a ways.

When I contacted swfa back a couple of decades or so about these, they said Hakko. Don't know if they were lying to me, but then I don't know where you got your info either, so here we are. - dan

Well, I've read numerous denials on the part of SWFA that Hakko ever made their scopes. And I've read several threads in which people opened brand new SWFA SS scopes and they had a sticker on the bottom that said Kenko.

I'm just getting my info from internet searches and various threads I've found on like 10 different websites.

So I dunno....the sticker seems somewhat definitive to me.

Maybe it's just one big company in Japan that makes all of the scopes, under different names.

At one point Hakko shut down I've read. And the SS scopes were still made throughout.

Maybe several different companies have made them over the last 20 or so years.

Personally I consider Japan made items top quality.

Ok so after all the reviews, swfa's website etc..I ordered the above scope. As soon as I opened the box, I found the Tasco manual, Tasco warranty card, a sticker on the bottom that said Kenko Optics Japan
