Actually I am double impressed on this latest load development.

Did some load development for a co-worker on his new T3 Lite in 7mm RM.

Had him sold on the Swifts after he saw the results of some out hunting last fall on moose out of a 7mm-08.

I was bugging him about his entry level poor mans Sako , well, I was very impressed with the results of the rifle and again with the performance of the Swift bullets for accuracy.

Did my ladder tests previous to find a sweet spot and then did a few different loads to confirm groups.

IMR 7828 , PRVI Brass , 215M primer , SC II's , loaded to fit mag, about 0.060" off the lands it worked out to be.

First time using this brass as well, seems very good.

Nice work.

that 7-08 round that worked on Bullwinkle, was that 150 gr SC II?

I was having a heck of a time trying to find Nosler AB's and went looking at the supporting vendors for SC II's but couldn't find any inventory.

Can you offer a comparison between the two for hunting/accuracy?

Regards
Ron

I have used both the Swift Scirocco II and the NAB in a few different calibres. The Scirocco may have an ever so slightly advantage accuracy wise in the rifles I loaded for and the BCs can be compared but the Scirocco really shines in terminal performance. They create an amazing wound channel and hold their weight.
Realistically either would do fine on most game under most circumstances but all around performance edge would go to the Scirocco in my opinion. The only drawbacks to the Scirocco are the availability, although CI Distribution, a site sponsor here, usually has them and cost, they are rather pricey compared to most other hunting bullets.

Yes, it was a 150 SC II in 7-08 used on the swamp donkey.

I directly tested AB vs SC in a 7-08 during load development a few years ago_OVERALL , the Swift grouped tighter on average and the smallest group was about .250" difference. The smallest 5 shot was .488" with the SC II's and .734" with the AB.

I did however see that the MAXIMUM group sizes were smaller with the AB, however these loads are on the fringes and nobody cares about those. Both of course obtained very suitable accuracy for hunting , I however wanted to find the tightest and so far the Swifts have done that and their on game performance is amazing, anybody that uses them on game will attest to this.

Ron, you are closer to a huge supply of Swift then I am, send me a PM.

CI I believe is done for , but there is another supplier right in Sask.

I actually price compared two weeks ago

You may be surprised what you find when compared to Other similar bullets but you gotta do your own comparisons.

I have had best results with H4350 and W760 , I am at work and I believe the Swifts were a COAL of 2.800" , I will correct this if I am wrong when I get home, They do like a bit of jump however I get my COAL to fit the mag for hunting rifles then do load development, haven't had a rifle not shoot yet this way.

The Tikka listed above was 0.060" off the lands and the -08 was also a jump, don't remember off hand.

Thanks, Very nice, what powder were you using and did you find in the 7mm-08 they liked a bit of a jump as well.

Thanks Im shooting the 150s in my 7mm mag but will try them in the 7mm-08 and maybe the 280 as well.
Also trying the 180gr in the 300 win mag and may try them in the 30-06 as well hope to try a few loads
this weekend.

My custom Remington 700 in 308 Norma Mag just loves the 180 grain Scirocco II !!

This bullet is quite tough. I launch it from this rifle at 3120 fps, and 2 years ago I pounded a
bull moose through the ribs at 90 meters. The bullet angled forward and broke the off side shoulder.
The recovered slug was impressive. It was under the hide on the offside. [Pictures below]

Not all rifles will shoot this bullet well, but most do, once you find the right recipe.
I shoot the 150 in my 7mm SAUM as well.

Regards, Dave.

Bottom rifle in this pic. It now wears Leupold 3.5-10x40 B&C optics.
