Swiss 30-30

The original rifle had a 12 round magazine. Mine has a 6 round mag the has been modified to feed the rimmed case.

I have one of these rifles also feeds from the mag and is very good shooter no problems with it at all.

OK sounds great fellas. You guys have given me a whack of info to pass on to my neighbour. I'm still curious though. The mags you guys are using and have no problems with; are they modified K11s or 31s or modified originals?

There are some available for all 3 models but I'd hate for my buddy to pay upwards of $90.00 for a mag and not be able to modify it.

I know he'll be pleased to hear he has a rifle that has some history to it and useful. Thanks again.

I found some pics and descriptions of various mags. Perhaps the guys that have functioning mags for the 1889 30-30 can tell me which one(s) (and any mods) they are using. TY

Mine is a cut down K11. The mag lips have been reshaped, not by me. They are very similar to the mag lips on a Lee Enfield. The bolt pushes the cartridge forward and then as it exits the guides (lips) the rim of the case slips under the extractor and the cartridge is held in place and reasonably straight, for feeding into the chamber.

Thanks Bearhunter, there is a K11 mag available from one of the sponsors and if my neighbour wants to go for it I can do that mod for him. He's an old timer about 10 years older than me. He was given the rifle by a hunting buddy who recently died and needed a new friend. I'm it and I don't mind in the least. Thanks all of you, your help is gold.
