Swiss 5.56 ammo

Swiss Ruag GP90 62gr 5.56x45mm ammo is top-notch ammo, designed specifically for the Swissarms-manufactured SIG 550 and PE90 rifles and carbines. It tends to be a bit more pricey than bulk domestic 5.56mm ammo when you find it. Tec Trade has a bit of it in stock.

Ruag makes 5.56 in M193, M855 or SS109 and also GP90.
The M193 and the SS109 are pretty much spec just like the issue stuff.
They are good too.

The GP90 is really good.
Perhaps not match grade ammo, but not too far off as far as most people are concerned either.
It really shines in the SA rifles.
Most folks say that the IVI C77 is the next closest thing, which is also unobtainium for the most part.

Bought 600 rounds a few weeks ago and now the last 5 boxes they had in stock, had been wanting this ammo for years, but don’t have a Swiss gun, but I’ll do accuracy tests in a precision bolt gun and an AR.

It does come on thick grey plastic stripper clips, they don’t work with a traditional stripper clip spoon or the larger plastic stripper clip guide, I’d like to know as well. Iam sure diopter will chime in.

Does the ammo come on stripper clips. By the way what do the Swiss use for stripper clip guide for their mags ?

Things to note.
These adapters were not the right size for either the grey Swiss clips or the black thinner ones as used by IVI C77.
I assume the adapters were for a later metal clip on subsequent lots of GP90.

The adapters fit into notches on rear of PE90 mags, as you see on these photos and use the mag latch protrusion as a stop.

We never used them in competition, since we loaded 5 at a time.
But it is possible by holding both by hand and transferring rounds from clip into adapter, if you want to be stubborn. :)
I just tested it to make sure it can be done with the Swiss clips held in hand but no go with the IVI clips.

I asked Bloke On The Range about this. He has never seen anyone in Switzerland use these clip guides.
I'm starting to think they were for use with metal Nato clips. GP90 has always used the same grey stripper clips.

The black IVI C77 clips can be forced into the Swiss guides, but is a real pain to use and remove from the guide afterwards.

They can go smoothly if you do some grinding on the polymer Swiss stripper clip guide. God I miss those rifles!

The mag charger commonly found is for and works with the typical STANAG metal stripper clips.

I believe there is also a model made specifically for the light grey RUAG stripper clips, but I've not run across one.

The Black charger guides were made for Swiss stripper clips. The translucent green ones are for NATO steel clips. We have some of both in stock.
