Is there any trick to tapping out the small steel pin that holds the bayonet lug in a Swiss Arms 550? Thanks for any suggestions to do this without marring the finish or damaging the steel pin.
Go to Acklands (or any other industrial tool supply) and buy yourself a set of roll pin punches. If it's a roll pin and you try to tap it out with a nail, you run a good chance of expanding the pin in the hole and jamming it. Ask me how I know this.
Get the punches. It will save you a buttload of hassle.
If you absolutely must get it out right now, use a machine screw or something else with a flat bottom so you don't expand the pin.
Why would you consider doing this? I'm assuming you're talking about a PE-90 and not an actual SIG 550. Any alteration from stock will vastly decrease your rifle's worth should you ever decide to sell. Just look at the guys who took a can of spray paint to their ARs.
I guess you have not hunted the "Wild, sabertooth mid prarie, dememted" creature we all the gopher!
These "Friendly" little creatures can take off your leg or worse!!!
What kind of bayonet is that Head Damage? Ive seen the bayonets for sale at Tradeex, however, with their green furniture it wouldn't look good with my black rifle.
