Which one should I get?!?!?!

I want to get out of the AR game... Sick of the whole restricted BS.... And I almost bought a swiss arms before...

I think I'm leaning towards the Target, because I like the idea of the built in back up sights...

Also, what would be a good scope to get? Hopefully for under $1000.00? Scopes are not my forte!

Thanks

For a scope, I'd say get the target model (thats what I would do if/when I get one!)

My buddy has a Leupold 2.5-8 on his swiss arms, but they are pretty pricey, but from what I hear, he says its a pretty good magnification range for what its capable of... Maybe something like a 1.5-5 or even a 3-9 or something....

Get either a Black Special or Target and you will not regret obtaining this well-built firearm. A couple of Targets on the EE but pricing is a bit high for basically the same thing except for its flat top receiver. Have mounted an Elcan Spector OS 3x which allows the use of the fixed sights if needed. Got it used from the EE for less than $1000. I too, am not a great fan of scopes but these Elcans are just something else. Compact, tough w/ outstanding optics. Would'nt mind an ACOG but just too pricey and most of the (new) ones in Canada are with the donut recticle (prefer the chevron).
Originally installed a run of the mill red dot which improved accuracy on distant targets (compared to the iron sights). When I switched to the Elcan, accuracy improved by at least 50% if not more. Do your research and save up. Get the right optics the first time around. If I win the lotto, am buying myself a Night Force.
The SA is built like a swiss watch. Stock trigger is a pleasure to fire and iron sights are as good as they come. Post what you finally end up with. Happy shopping and get ready with your 200 mtr. + targets.

If you got lots of guns then get the target, if funds are tight and you like to shoot with irons too, then get the special and a $40 check riser from canam and a $120 rail (lots to choose from) and you have one rifle that will do a lot.

I guess it'll be the target.:D

Was looking at some NF scopes... Holy SH*! batman! Expensive or what?!

Any other good scopes that'll fit the bill on top of this gun?

I've heard many many MANY good things about these guns.... Kind of like the Benelli M4, once you pick one up, you know you don't want to put it down!

As stated earlier, I want out of the AR scene... I'm sick of it... I want a gun that I don't have to mess with, can just pick it up, load it, and shoot stuff. And NOT have to go to my gun club to do so.

Thanks for the input.

Heh

I just mounted an NF NXS 2.5-10x32 on a black special target. Get the .885" rings if you go this route. The OD of the eye cap almost kisses the rail.

It is a beautiful setup :D

If mounting optics, definately go with the flattop. My favorite optic for this rig is the NF 2.5-10x24.

That rail is worth what, like almost $700?

Very nice setup.

I was looking at the 3.5-15x50 or 56....

But 2k is pretty rich for a scope. I know I'm looking at spending 3k+ for a rifle... but I dunno if I can spend an additional 2k for optics...
Kinda wish I didnt get rid of my ACOG... :(

***EDIT***

Best. Sigline. EVER!

If you really wanted, you could buy something like an Aimpoint and then sell it in a few months or year when you saved up for a real scope, then sell the Aimpoint. Good red-dots like that keep their value pretty well.

Or you can just use the irons, the flat-top model doesn't awesome diopter sights like the classic ones do, but im sure they will work for range shooting for a while.

So can someone tell me... Are these guns the Sh!t or what?1

A ultra-precision marksman's rifle this gun is not. A well-built, quality, military type, dependable all-around rifle, this gun is. I'm one of those who fires all in those the gun safe. My Black Special is used regularly and after its first couple of range sessions to sight the scope, its now fired primarily standing (mostly), kneeling or prone as what its designed for.
If the purpose is to primarily fire it from the bench secured by rifle rest or sandbags, for and aft, to achieve the closest grouping, then you will be dissappointed compared to many other available highly precision rifles.

Here my Black Special. Note: Elcan mount allows for BUIS.

So I think I'm going w/ the Target.

Can someone give me some tips on scopes/rings? I can't afford the NF or anything like that....

Here's what I'm looking at:

Any good? I can probably only spend $600 max on a scope... So if someone can help me out w/ ideas, that'd be great. Thanks
