I've managed to pay off my school debt six months out of univerity and six months after that (now) I'm sitting pretty on a pile of Korean cash.

So I'm thinking of picking up one of these Swiss Money Pits this summer (maybe three if a Brinks truck explodes infront of my house) and here's the thing.

Does it have a rail on top? Or do you need to buy the $120 adapter? If it has a rail on top is it some sort of Swiss Moon system that I won't be able to get rings for? I want to have this sucker both ways, ironsights for extreme cow pacification and optics for keeping those uppity prarie dogs away from mah woman! (not that this has ever been a problem)



Anyone out there have this rifle?
Anyone think I should save some money and get an AR that will collect dust since it's restricted?
Should I get a SL8 and only shoot it at night for fear someone will see how ugly it is?
 
Standard picatinny rails are available for the PE-90 rifles and aren't included in the purchase price. Rooster 33 makes a pretty good one, but he's MIA these days. TSE has them in stock usually. Depending on who you buy from, cost will run between $150-$250 for the picatinny mount. Any standard picatinny rings will work such as TPS, Badger Ordnance, etc...
 
Damn, you'd think 3K would get you some rail action. It's sort of like buying a car and not getting any gas in the tank.

Do you know how the rails attach? Do you have to remove the iron sights for it to work?
 
There's a place in the front of the rear diopter sight used to mount the rail. Pretty simple to do and is very solid. If you are wincing at the cost of the rail, I don't think you're going to like the fact that mags are $70+ a piece!:)

Here's a pic, forget where this one came from. As you can see, two issues you may have to deal with are ring height and eye relief. High rings will most likely take care of these problems so that your ocular lens clears the rear diopter sight.

Hmm, will have to keep that in mind. I'm going to have to get a metal mill so I can start making my own toys like that.

p.s. where can a fellow pick up a top hat and a monocle? Given how much this pig is I'm going to have to wear them while shooting it.
 
It may cost a bit more then an AR15 set up But its worth every penny!
I just got a CQB 2995$,Receiver rail from Brugger&Thomet 250$ and Quad rail forearm from Swiss Arms 750$ ( I think B&T manufacture it also, but not sure, there are no letter references to who made it!) and 10 mags 700$ Ouch!!! and topped off with a Trijicon ACOG. It is a FINE piece of equipment ! A little on the heavy side (8-9 lbs unloaded) But it is Accurate and functions Flawlessly!
 
It's really too bad they didn't have this in the states, then all the bits and peices would be a lot cheaper given the massive market for black rifles down there. Ah well, nothing like dropping a few thousand on a rifle, just to have it banned next Liberal gov. :evil:

There is Railed Handguard for 55X. B&T has it, although it's not on their web. Buchel Waffen & Outdoor GmbH has it, but it's expensive.

The States have strict laws and banned imports of so called "non sporting" arms. Steyr augs, Sigs, foreign AK's and what not can't be imported. They can however make their own (see stg 556 and sig 556). Stupid gun laws are universal.
 
Hey, Wolverine Supplies has the B&T Picatinny rail for $160, just a heads up. The model number is BT20120. I think it's identical to the SIG factory rail, which is closer to $300, they're shipped interchangeably.
 
there is a black special that comes with a rail (target model?)
call TSE and see if they have a line on one or watch the EE as they show up every once in a while....

Yes there is a Black Special Target madel that has a built in optics rail and fold down rear iron sight.

Get the flat top model.
If you get one with Diopter sights, you will end up mounting the scope over your iron sights, and end up getting a cheek rest as well as the mount.
 
That depends on how long the eye relief on the scope is and how the rifle fits you. I find that the standard leupold scopes sit infront of the rear site for me and low enough that I don't need the clip on check rest. However, the flattop is still likely better as a sporter as oposed to a service rifle.

+1, I found I needed the cheek rest in order to comfortably shoot it without my head balancing trying to focus, unless of course you enjoy diopter sights.

I do not find it much of a problem with mine.....and its pretty high.
It not like these rifles have any recoil to smack you in the eye if you dont quite get things right;) .....
 
Anyone has a website or can share what's the proper way of cleaning and oling/greasing the rifle? The manual is very vague...
Tarn I like your rifle's scope mount that allows the use of the irons..what is it?
