Keep the bearing parts of the bolt, bolt carrier, & main spring greased. If not with the oem stuff, then a lithium grease or something like Millitech (what I use).
Apply a CLP type oil to all the metal parts. everything.
When you want to shoot it, wipe the oil from the chamber, barrel, bolt face and gas effected parts (piston head, gas block & gas plug)

Q. Leaving your gas system dirty for long periods will do what? Bueller? Bueller?
A. Let the carbon encrusted parts attract moisture.

Q. Moisture will do what to your rifle?
A. Corrosion, most likely in the form of rust. Sigs won't rust you say? :bsFlag: (If left long enough, it will even damage the chrome plated piston)


If you want to run optics, the flat top is your best option.
 
I use a B&T Picatinney rail with ARMS #22 High rings.

I used to have a ARMS #35 QD mount with the #35 low rings mounted on it, but I moved that mount over to my SPR clone.

I picked up an AIRSOFT copy of the Sig cheekrest.:D It was a LOT cheaper then the actual Sig cheekrest, but is solid and work just the same.

I juusssssst clear the rear sight.:rolleyes:



With an extended rail you could position the scope just in front of the rear sight drum.

Personally, I like having the rear Diopter sights............

When I read the title I thought it was talking about a real SIG like my NIB SIG-510 here.

I just dropped 3K USD on it.

I got to fire one of these Babies A few weeks back. Man are they nice, I loved shooting at the gong and the spotter kept saying "Hit, hit, hit, hit.." and that was standing with the iron sites and the sun in my eyes.

I wonder if my Tax return will be enough to buy one of these Puppies. Any stores have them in stock right now?
 
I don't have a clue about your gun laws maybe someone can point me in the direction of a thread or site that will explain it ?

Thanks I just received it like 2 weeks ago I have 5 of my all time favorite 308 rifles I always wanted now Will post pics of the FN FAL G series I bout also when the pics come out.

I took them with my 35mm camera as the chip in my digital was full.

I haven't sent film to the lab in years.

Now that's a true diopter sight! Why have to fight these prohibitions, there is absolutely no logic in banning a historical rifle like that.

The front iron sight on the Black Special is a little thick. Covers a 12" x 12" target at 100yrds. So to get a good group, I have to square up the edge of the front sight with the edges of the target. One of these days, I'm going to have the front sight ground down to a more slender profile. The target version with the flat-top diopler rear sight works a bit better.
 
I am sure this is already common knowledge, but, the front post set up with low light sights flips down to reveal another, thinner post.

The reason I mention it is it will change the POI for the other sight distance settings.

now that's great. The video was taken in my town. Those trenches aren't more then 45 minutes away from my place (by foot).

There was a ban in 1992 that is similar to the 1989 Californian law, except the AR-15 was excluded from prohibition, and essentially re-classed the same as a handgun. So most military-style semi-autos around in 1992 are banned, but you can keep them and sell them to other people who had them before they were banned, but you can't shoot them because you can't get the permit anymore to take them to the range. Everything introduced after 1992 is legal because it's not on the list. But mags designed for all centrefire semi-auto long guns are restricted to five rounds max. capacity.

There was something of a controversy in Switzerland, as some shooters were grinding down the front sight to make it thinner, and they were passing the inspection before the matches. I remember it being mentioned on the radio.
