Swiss Arms Carbine... whaddya think?

Just bought a Swiss Arms Carbine, and sold my CQB... what do you guys prefer and why?

The only downside to the CQB was blast and noise. I'm guessing the carbine will be a BIT tamer in both regards.

The supressor is NOT real - it's an airsoft non-functioning replica... just thought it looked cool for this pic! If this was non-restricted, and the supressor was functional, I think this would be my ideal blaster. :) It's pretty close already - I just wish I could take it out in the back 40, or shooting gophers.


 
My 14.3" Swissarms Carbine is one of my favorite rifles. Nice length and balance, built like a tank. I have a 17.9" flattop carbine too but I just love the shorter one.

I have only fired the 14.5 once it felt at lot more front heavy then the cqb, I'm a big fan of the cqb for all around balance. For me it most fun shooting rifle I have and it always leaves me smiling after shooting it. I've had it almost 5 years and come close to selling it a few times but have backed off, I really don't shoot it enough to justify having it, maybe this year I'll let it go...:eek::cool:
 
The carbines are nicely balanced, good range and weight. But it's on full auto where the SIG rifles really shine.

I have (had) all three commonly available barrel lengths of the Swiss Arms family.
I currently own a CQB and a carbine, and, you guessed it...the CQB wins...hands down!
The handling characteristics of the CQB are so much nicer than the carbine and full length model...Yup... you guessed it...I sold off the full length ( non-restricted) model.
I have had all three units at the range (only place I shoot) and putting them in the hands of anyone who cares to partake in the assessment agree...CQB takes the prize.
Do a back to back comparison...I'm betting you're in the market for another CQB!
 
I have to disagree with foxbat.

I have found the Carbine to be the best of the three rifles. It has reach, a degree of compactness and is ready to hit a door as easily as it can smack the tango at 400m. I run mine with a ACOG TA-01NSN and just got the quadrail, next up is a SigLite Illuminator/Laser I just ordered from Questar on the cheap. The rifle performs better than I ever will. I used it this summer to do a DOS qualifier and scored a 292/300 and was done about ten seconds ahead of the next fastest guy... who did not beat me, not by a long shot. My buddy was running his CQB and scored a 272/300, not bad at all!

To me, the carbine is the comfy side of Spec-ops Missions/Patrols and CQB when you can't drag three longarms with you.

The CQB is the kind of firearm I would see my Shotgunner, Sniper or Gunner use in the extended sortie job as a PDW (a role in which it rocks, BTW). If I was doing CQB/FIBUA the Swiss CQB would be the beast for me. But when you take any supershorty beyond two hundred meters, they begin to fall down, just a tiny bit.
 
The CQB beats the carbine in the fun factor, just because its cool, the recoil is stronger on the cqb than on the carbine due to shorter gas piston and nearly twice the gas chamber pressures, it simply bucks more. the 17.9 carbine is simply the smoothest carbine I have ever shot. with the longer gas piston and nice balance being a little more front heavy than the cqb it stays on target better allowing faster followup shots. they each have their pluses and I don't think you can go wrong with either one. For me, the carbine 17.9 is the prefered gun, but the cqb is shot more simply because its the one I don't care if it gets worn out. Rarely shoot the non-restricted as it doesn't have the same fun factor as the other two.

Yes, carbine, by far the handiest. Great for very personal and longer-distance social work.

 
Given the choice, on the carbine which is preferred, the flat top option or the model with drum sight built into the upper?
 
@USP: that's the way to go thumbs up.

Who made that scope? Never seen anything like it.

Replaced my 552 with a 551 LB years ago and never looked back. The short barrel isn't much good for anything beyond 100m.
