Hey I have been looking for some info on these rifles. The "Swiss Arms Classic Green Carbine" version. Are they non-restricted? There is one on the EE right now and it says non-restricted, but I do not know if that is true or not.
These are the ones I am talking about.

The barrel looks pretty short on the carbine version. Does anyone know the barrel length? I tried googling it but all that popped up was stuff about the confiscation.

I know these are non-res for sure

If you look at his add he is not saying that the Swiss is non restricted. He is offering a Swiss Arms Carbine, and an 858 that is non restricted. I do understand how you could think that the Swiss is NR from his wording if you didn't know, though.

Carbines are either 14" or 17.8" barrel lengths. If they state non restricted then possibly then had the barrel changed out from Herron Arms to non restricted status

Sorry was on mobile :)

I had the first carbine re-registered as non-restricted a long time ago. Here's one I did with Ian a few years ago with a three prong flash hider cut into the barrel:

I too had a classic green carbine rebarrelled to non-restricted with the three-prong built in flashhider. 10/10 would recommend

I want that. Who did the re-barreling? And how much did it cost for the barrel and to get it re-barreled?

That will depend on the barrel blank that you start from, the finish you use, do you do with the cut-in flash hider (great if you want to keep the barrel at the minimum length possible, but there is then NO option to install a brake on it in the future) or go with a thread finish, etc.

Expect to pay $900+.

So at the going rate of SAN Carbines of $3,500 (LOL!), you're going to end up with a $4,500+ piece of kit, meaning you must really, really want it.

That said, the converted Carbines do handle (weight) better than standard full length SANs IMO.

This is really a great example of the "WANT" Vs "Need" argument for NR rifles in Kanuckistan.
