Hey all i was wondering what amount of bullet drop each range setting accounts for.... as in if i'm zero'd at 100m with the 100m setting and switch to the 200m peep how much bullet drop does it account for? Is their a list somewhere of how much correction in elevation each setting corresponds to, or if anyone just knows offhand. I'm sure its calibrated for gp90 but it would be nice to know the specific numbers as i won't be shooting gp90 anytime soon. (i'm shooting some 69gr smk reloads i have a bullet drop chart worked out for so I'd like to see if any of the diopter settings corresponds)
I've googled all night and scoured the manual to no avail!

First off entirely depends on what rifle you are using. The irons on the full size are different from the carbine which are different from the CQB.

All the CG iron sights only go to 400m, and at those ranges, the difference between your ammo and 63gr GP90 will most likely be negligible. At least I would not be able to compensate for the difference with irons.

If you are really interested, do your own test at the range, but I think you will find that if you simply set your sights and fire away, you will be fairly close.
 
Why don't you find a ballistic table for GP-90 ammo and that would tell you what you need because it would have drops for different ranges. Just a suggestion
 
First off let me say i agree with all of you that for a battle rifle the setting the sights is just fine. But for my use tomorow and the next few days i would just be nice to know exactly the corresponding changes.

I thought that saying it was a CG made it the rifle, oh well it is the rifle.
I looked for the gp90 ballistic table to no avail hahah.

I'm going coyote hunting tomorow and would like to know as i find i'm zeroed at 100m when using the 200m diopter setting (which i find weird) and would like to know if the 300m setting can account for the 5-6 inch drop at 200 i will be experiencing....(i might just hold on the coyote's spine if hes at 200m.

OH and the longest shot i would feel comfortable taking would be 200m considering the relatively fast drop after that and also eyesight with irons on a moving target past that would likely be a wasted bullet.
 
I honestly haven't thought about it that much as my rifle is scoped, but if you examine the diopter there is a difference in the height of the peeps corresponding to different ranges. I would imagine they wouldn't go through that much trouble if it wasn't compensating for bullet drop. These are after all the Rolex rifles of battle rifles.
 
I zeroed mine at 200m with the 200m peep sight for a 6 o'clock hold. When I turn the drum to 3 it hits perfectly at 300m. If I'm shooting 4" clays at 100m I aim just underneath them using the 200m peep and they're gone:D I find that 100m sight setting to be quite useless.

Wow, you may find it useless, I think it rocks, it's a battle sight, the only thing that makes it useless is if you bought a battle rifle to take to the range!

Lol, I don't shoot at no range. I play in the mountains where i can set up jungle lanes and whatever else I want from 0 to 400m....with the peep sight:D
I will admit to using the tritium dot sight setting on that rifle to keep blasting after sundown on occasion but other than that I don't use it. Just my preference.

hmm, to each there own I guess, I can shoot with the open battle sight and score almost 100% hits on 12x12 steel at 120+yards while standing. Once I get any further than 150-175m I start using the drum. I wasn't trying to say that the drum is useless, I love it, but for anything fast and inside 150yards, that battle sight is freakin' awesome IMO
