Hey guys, i was looking at ways to mount a weaponlight on my swiss arms (i'm not sure why as i doubt i ever will but hey i think i figured it out)
Anyways, was looking into some short pieces of rail to mount to the hand guard, and i wasn't about to dril into my handguards so this is what i came up with. PS 8 dollar rail free shipping off ebay out of vancouver, Just search picatanny rail if you want to pick one up.
kick things off with a little ####
I thought i'd have to mod the hardware or at least get new nuts that were lower-profile but i found out that the little raised circle is nearly a perfect press fit for the rectangular cooling slots so it has plenty of clearance for the gas-tube.
only thing i have to do is grind out a bit of material where the "bridges" between the cooling slots are once i figure exactly where along the hanguard i want it to sit. (i dont think this is necesary but if u tighten it right down it gives the handguard a bit of distortion, unnoticeable when on the rifle but u can see it with the 2 hand guards apart.
Anyways i'll update once i get a light and grind out the rail the couple mm's to make that perfect fit.
All in all i figure not bad for $9
