Swiss Arms CQB/553 flat-top (pics)

yep, you are right about that.... two wrench flats

Looks like the original version was 2 piece with a seperate indexing lug...not sure what purpose that served, but they seem to have dropped it.

ok.

So if I buy a CQB from Wolverine supply now how do I know whether it is using 552 or 553 gas system. Thanks.

You can tell from the outside. The CQB/552 has a round "rod" shaped charging handle, the newer CQB/553 has the standard Swiss Arms style charging handle, which has a slight curve to it, and has a plastic "pad" surrounding it.

This is the older 552-style charging handle:

I would ask for a picture from the dealer if they dont have a recent one posted, and you can compare it to those guys.

Hey Uncle Walther, How does the Black Special Target LB shoot, they did say amazing test targets? Do you know how many CIE brought in of them, I see that they are now off thier site? Probably Sold out!?!

I replaced the factory handguard and bipod with a Brugger and Thomet quad rail and harris bipod, which makes it much more stable. I put a NF 5.5-22 scope on it. It is amazingly accurate. I think he only brought in a few. All gone now. FYI, I am selling the flat-top carbine, still unfired. Nabbed it because I had the chance, but it doesn't have a proper place in the collection.

I grabbed one of the 1:7 black special flat tops. Need some good glass on it first, then I'll post some measured groups. Mine didn't come with a test target.

None of the 1 in 7" barrels come with test targets, the Swiss don't use them in Switzerland and I guess they feel nobody outside of Switzerland cares how they shoot with GP90.

Swiss Arms stopped printing out test targets in July of 2009. That what the Swiss Arms memo said anyways. I don't know if enough feedback caused them to change their mind.

Be nice to know how the 552 and 553 compare on full-auto, I've shot a 550 on full-auto and was less than impressed to be honest, had a harder time controlling it than with an M16.
