Is there any company within Canada that produces (or would produce) a switch out barrel (and spring?) for the CQB that would render it non-restricted like its Classic Green/Black Special cousins for those times when I want to shoot coyotes and such with it? Or are there far too many refinements required?

It would have to be way cheaper than buying a second SA I'd say.

:ninja:

I have a spare barrel and gas block if you want to purchase it.
The other parts could/might be bought through TSE.
As to having it re-registered...dunno

Re:

Yes you would have to have two registrations. One for each barrel length. Better off to buy another rifle. I was thinking of doing this as well with my AR`s. One upper 20", one 14.5" and one 11.5". Decided to spend a few hundred extra each and buy complete rifles instead. Glad I did.

You would need to replace the bolt carrier, charging handle, barrel, gas tube, piston, recoil spring, handguards and gas valve. The total cost would likely be more than a used rifle. I have the parts if you have the money.

So its possible to have two reg certs for one receiver?

No. With the AR it is the lower receiver that is registered - You would have one rifle and X number of different spare uppers.

My understanding is with the Sigs, the upper is the registered portion - so two uppers equals two separate guns and two registration certificates (despite only having one lower)

These guns hold their value very well. Not too many CQB's out there and hardly any in stores. If you want an unrestricted one, sell the CQB and but a big Classic Rifle. Easy fix. These guns go and go and go so no problem buying a used one. Barrels are hammer forged and should last up to 20k or more depending how fussy you are about accuracy. My Classic Green has between 9 and 10k and it shoots better than when it was brand new.

Well, given what I've read here I'll probably just buy another SA. I had a Black Special and enjoyed shooting it but did not like the weight in the field. It was awesome on coyotes. I love the CQB I have but the damned restricted classification means shooting paper only. Guess I will suck it up and start saving my pennies...
