I'm pretty sure all the CQB versions coming in now have the 553 gas system. Exact same gun, but with different bolt carrier (old style) and the shortened original Carbine/rifle gas system instead of the different and problematic 552 style gas system.

I think an old thread on here there was a way to get the 553 style gas systems to retrofit the CQB, but they were extremely expensive.

I know it's a long shot, but since the Black Special and all the other rifles were exempted, wouldn't it be possible to explain that the Canadian SAPR is a variation of the Black Special / Classic Green series of rifles... Although considering it's already been classified by the RCMP, it means an entire new rifle would need to be submitted, AKA fat chance....

the 552 is no longer manufactured. the 553 has replaced it.

Thanks guys!

Can you elaborate on this quote? "Exact same gun, but with different bolt carrier (old style) and the shortened original Carbine/rifle gas system instead of the different and problematic 552 style gas system."

Prior to selling my 552 CQB, I shot close to 2000 rounds with zero issues. ZERO. The only 'issue' if you can call it that is when you strip the 552 CQB, you must be mindful of the recoil spring as it will fly directly in your face or hit something behind you. I have never heard of any other problems with this system however I don't troll the interweb, I just shoot guns.

The 553 system simply replicates the original 550 system. The gun strips and assembles the same way, more parts are interchangeable.
