The first 2 home-owners seemed to get it but the others seemed to take for granted what an awesome law and rifle they have.

Stayed in Schweiz and people there are Swiss, homogenous. National security is important so all Swiss. The maudlin individuals in the media seem to be stirring things for no reason. The Swiss have remained non-aligned for a reason and this is because all men a r soldiers and an invading army would have a terrible time invading. The Japanese wouldn't invade America because of the high percentage of firearm ownership in that country.
Do these anti-firearm individuals have an agenda? One planet ruled with an iron fist. Humans to be exploited and harvested like farm bovine? They are naive people who think their idealism is unique and Earth-shattering. It just gets people killed. Such people are more dangerous than invaders because they rot the society from within but looking at them they are seemingly innocuous. The most dangerous people in any society are those who would have us all bare out naked throats to the ravenous wolves to show them we mean no harm.

3rd guy didn't seem to appreciate the invasive journalist. Hell, how would any of you react if some douche nozzle from CBC knocked on your door asking the same questions...

As long as people have the option of keeping their rifles at home or in the armories, I can't possibly see how there could be an issue. I guess it could make suicides easier which sucks. But just because some people want to kill themselves does not mean service rifle ownership should be ruined for everyone else.

Break & Entry is not much of a problem over here. At least not when you're not living in an expensive looking house with a Porsche or Ferrari parked in front.

There is the option to store the service rifle at the armory. Everyone who does that has to retrieve it every year for the annual shooting qualification and the annual military service (if not already transfered to the reserves, like I am). Out of about 185'000 service man, only around 600 choose to do so.
