Swiss Arms, Kriss, CZ - Any Updates?

You can wait for the benevolence of the RCMP all you want,,,in the meantime keep writing your MPs , the Public Safety Minister and the treasurer of your local riding association.

excellent advice but threads asking the same question every 3 days won't get us answers any faster.

How didbya hear that about the CZ??
Is it just more local gunshop talk?

Couple different sources but nothing official. Could be BS but I heard the same thing from both places.
I'm sure the RCMP lab has plans for all our semi auto's but with all the heat they've been taking lately over High River and now Toronto I think they will lay low for a while and wait for things to blow over before anything else happens.
Don't forget the whole Swiss Arms situation was actually started by a local Alberta retailer and it wasn't initiated by RCMP in an attempt to take our rifles.
We should be safe for a while once this gets settled.

Oh ya, IBTL

I heard at a gunshop that the RCMP was told that if they do reclassify the Swiss arms the money to buy them back will come out of their budget.

My local gun shop told me that no more CZs were getting into the country due to possible reclassification. I'm pretty sure they're full of it, and now I'm very sure of it based off reading this thread.

Kriss - Waiting on FRT for new model announced at SHOT (for some reason FRT was pulled). No worry about re-classification

CZ - Paperwork for full autos was included with shipment so CBSA is going through EVERY gun to make sure they are semi. No worry about re-classification

Swiss Arms - Nothing announced or heard from, RCMP making determination.

Is the confirmed that we don't have to worry about reclassification? Because I really want to
Buy an 858.

Not anymore that I know. Did you read the Wolverine Supplies thread on this? nobody knows whats going on with the 858's anymore, considering wolverines shipment had samples classed as converted autos, nobody knows if the 858's will start coming in again. Nobody knows if the RCMP will go after the 858 or if there are too many to bother with.

Yes I did read it. No reclassification for guns already in Canada. The RCMP claims something was different in the last shipment, consensus is that they were determined to be converted auto. Wolverine is awaiting the return of the shipment to the factory to determine what went wrong or if it is all BS. In the meantime they are refusing to import any more of them and a new, updated gun with a different name is in the works.

interesting! i might just wait for the new updated gun. or perhaps just the new modernized CZ that the fellas in Czech just churned out.

They're calling it the 958 apparently. Few details other than it will be a new and improved version with a new FRT#, presumably to help ditch all the muss and fuss they've gone through lately. Don't hold your breath though, I'd bet its two years away.
